No, you haven’t missed out on our call for entries that’s normally due in March. FAB will be on sabbatical for the whole of the year, meaning the Festival of Animation Berlin won’t take place in 2024.
You’re wondering why? The last few editions have actually been quite exhausting for our small team, most of whom organise this festival on a part-time or voluntary basis and have other (full-time) jobs. If you would like to support us as part of the team or as a partner: This is your chance to come on-board, let’s get talking! Meanwhile, we’ll be boosting our energy level this year, reorganising ourselves and gathering great ideas for a glittering 2025 edition, hopefully with you on location!
Of course, even we won’t be able to refrain from all things FAB in 2024, that’s why we’re organising some special events here in Berlin – our Animation Rendezvous Berlin. The idea: a special location, an industry talk with screening (or without) and networking over a drink afterwards. This is made possible with the prize money from a competition on innovative formats organized by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. Sounds any good?
There will be even more FAB feeling with our best-of screenings. One of those takes place at ITFS (Internationales Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart), among other things, on 26 April at 7 pm at the Schlossplatz. dyrdee media has created a few new ads for this including an AR-inspired star jumping about Stuttgart city. Stay tuned – and if you haven’t already: subscribe our newsletter if you want to be informed about the next best-of-dates.
