FAB 2021

Highlights

The 2021 festival edition was marked above all by our optimism. And you certainly could feel it if you were live on site from October 1 – 3 at our fifth edition of the 2021 festival. At the four locations City Kino Wedding, Centre Francais, Russian House of Science and Culture and the Verwalterhaus professionals, friends and fans of the animation industry came together for common exchange, education and a fabulous film program.

Once again, the festival presented a selection of outstanding regional and international animated films, realised in old Berlin flats but also in all sorts of locations throughout the world. Special focus topics this year included the new competition format Animated Series as well as country focus screenings with films from Sub-Saharan Africa, Russia and Slovenia.

As always, special emphasis was also placed on connecting the animation industry with networking events and presenting animation art outside the cinema in the Animation Expanded exhibition FAB Dimensional, which took place for the second time.

Our international special guests this year included animator Luca Tóth, who created the festival trailer for FAB 2021, Kolja Saksida, Bianca Ansems, Dommi Fox, Ebele Okoye, Stefanie Sargnagel, Adnan Popovic and Aisha Madu amongst many others.For those who could not come to visit us in person this year, there were livestreams of selected events to watch.
