Between October 9th and 11th, there were a wide variety of events ranging from film screenings to workshops, competitions and networking dedicated to the art and craft of animation taking place at Urania Berlin. Funded by the Capital Cultural Fund, FAB brought together Berlin-based filmmakers and visitors from all around the globe.
Especially in times of the pandemic, animation has again proved its popularity as an artistic form of expression. We have shown the most interesting artistic experiments, celebrated the endless possibilities of animated film in six competition categories and gave aspiring as well as established artists from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to get in touch with representatives of the creative industries and try themselves out in workshops under the current safety precautions.
Our special guests this year included animator and children’s book author Anete Melece as well as graphic novel artist and animation director Cyril Pedrosa. We launched a live online kick-off series of free webinars with and for all of our international guests who weren’t able to travel this year.
