Festival of Animation Berlin (29.09. – 01.10.2023) is looking for the best expanded animation artworks for the exhibition series “FAB Dimensional”
Participating artists will receive an artist fee. The festival will cover travel costs and accommodation in Berlin and provides a professional installation team.

About the Exhibition
The exhibition “4th FAB Dimensional 2023“ is a showcase for animated art outside the cinema, and beyond the familiar framework of linear films. The medium of animated film per se offers many interfaces to other artistic media such as sculpture, game or installation in its production process and approach.
FAB Dimensional seeks to showcase different approaches to bring animation into the physical space, to initiate interaction with the audience and to invite everyone to marvel at the possibilities animation opens up. The exhibited artworks shall be of such kind, that they cannot be shown in a classical cinema setup.
About FAB
The Festival of Animation Berlin (FAB) brings the world of animated film to Berlin and opens up new horizons for filmmakers and culture enthusiasts. For the past 6 years, the festival has been setting new priorities and developing new formats and ideas at each edition.
FAB is a platform for intensive artistic and interpersonal exchange, for learning and reflection, for getting to know new techniques or films and for working on a diverse view of our world. In 2023, the festival will take place in two locations: City Kino Wedding (@ Müllerstraße 74) and silent green Kulturquartier (@ Gerichtstraße 35).

What we are looking for
This part of the exhibition consists of video installation as well as multidisciplinary animation works which include for instance AR, VR, Video projection mapping, Mixed media, Interactive art, Immersive art, Installation…
The submitted artwork has to be of such kind, that it couldn ́t be shown in the classical cinema setup but offers additional features and layers. We ́re particularly searching for non-linear, space based animation art. Artworks that contain live action or documentary content will be only considered for selection, if they include animation sequences as well.
We ́re looking for artworks that have been already produced or are at a level of at least 90% produced. The artwork can be already presented in the context of other festivals.
Procedure
Among the entries we will select a number of 8-10 artworks. The selected artists will be provided an artist fee and FAB will cover the cost for artwork transportation, travel and accommodation. A full accreditation for the FAB Festival (29.09.–01.10.) is provided.
FAB Festival can offer help with the technical set up and can provide technical equipment upon agreement. Assistance in adapting your work to the site will be provided by the festival. The festival can provide technical assistance in set up and dismantling. A responsible person will be there to turn on and off your installation during the exhibition period. The festival provides security service (guards) to the artworks.

Contains Animation, Original idea, audience experience, Technical feasibility, Set up time.
Eligibility
This call is open to everyone 18+
You can submit your work as an individual and as a team.
You can submit multiple projects and artworks.
Only fully complete applications will be taken into consideration.
