“Award for the powerful use of animation as a storytelling tool and the courageous and sensible way of approaching a meaningful and challenging theme.”
 

Special Mention:
Claire Sichez – L’AMOUR EN PLAN

Jury:
“Using elegant design to tell a mature story about difficult family relationships.”

BEST German ANIMATION

Winner:
Gerhard Funk – A GOATS SPELL

Jury:
“Award for a contemporary and surprising form of storytelling and the preservation in it of nostalgia, humour and the grotesque, where the goat is the starting point.”
 

Special Mention:
Robert Seidel – HYSTERESIS

Jury:
“Special Mention for disconnecting from reality, rebooting receptors and dizziness!”

Special Mention:
Simon Schnellmann – TO THE LAST DROP

Jury:
“Special Mention for an humouristic rollercoster of a film about cancer treatment. The film makes excellent use of the animation medium through it´s black & white characters´ shapes and changes in the space. The close encounter with Death is told with great humour and empathy.

“A special mention for the film RIM for its richness of detail and situation, interesting combination of modern design with the old image.”

Best PINK PANDA

Winner:
Pauline Kortmann – FOX FOR EDGAR

Jury:
“The animated film fox Edgar by Pauline Kortman convinces us without words, it shows how important togetherness and shared experiences are to avoid a dull everyday life. We especially like the fact that not only children but also adults can learn from the story. Sometimes it is important that parents see through the eyes of their children so that the world becomes a little more colorful.”

THE PECULIAR CRIME OF ODDBALL MR JAY

Jury:
“ ‘The peculiar crime of oddball Mr Jay’, a richly detailed stop motion film by Bruno Caetano, takes us into a world that is only worth living in again if you fight for your dreams and don´t give up hope. Because life is a tree with many branches and possibilites.”

BEST Commissioned Animation

Winner:
Tsuneo Goda (dwarf studios) – WARM HANDS

Jury:
“Award for a beautiful and hopeful hommage to the medical professionals, helping patients through the hardship and loneliness of sickness. The film is wonderfully poetic and the analogue textures underlines the emotions.”
